Yangtze River International Forum & 2019 “Jiangsu-SADC High Level Forum for Investment and Development” was held successfully

On October 28, 2019, “Yangtze River International Forum & 2019 Jiangsu-SADC High Level Forum for Investment and Development”, co-hosted by Jiangsu Association for Friendship and International Exchanges (JAFIE) and the National Diplomatic Corps in China of Southern African Development Community (SADC), was held at the meeting hall of the Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress. This is the second international forum of its kind jointly held by the two parties in Nanjing on the same theme after May 2016. Teng Yong, Executive Vice Chairman of JAFIE, presided over the opening ceremony of this forum. Ma Qiulin, Vice Governor of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, Lin Xiangguo, Chairman of JAFIE and former Executive Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress, and H. E. Mbelwa Kairuki, Chairman of the SADC Diplomatic Corps in China and Tanzanian Ambassador in China, addressed the opening ceremony of the forum respectively.

Gao Peng, Chairman Assistant of JAFIE, presided over the formal agenda of the forum. Ms. Mapolao Rosemary Mokoena, Director of the Infrastructure Department of the SADC Secretariat, Zhu Feng, Dean of Institute of International Relations of Nanjing University, Pan Shuigen, CPC Secretary and General Manager of China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation Jiangsu Branch, and Pang Zhongying, Dean of the Institute of Marine Development of Ocean University of China, etc., delivered keynote speeches respectively. A total of more than 300 people attended the forum, including 8 ambassadors in China of SADC countries, a number of ambassador's representatives of SADC countries, leaders of provincial and municipal people's congresses, representatives from international institutions, experts and scholars of universities and institutes for academic research in Nanjing, senior executives of financial, insurance, legal and other institutes, partial directors of JAFIE, and representatives of more than 120 enterprises investing in Southern Africa as recommended by the sponsors, such as China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, Jiangsu Sub-council (Jiangsu Chamber of International Commerce), China Export and Credit Insurance Corporation Jiangsu Branch, Jiangsu Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export Firms, Jiangsu Economic News of Xinhua Daily Media Group and CAS in NJU etc.
