JAFIE Held Symposium on Sino-German Humanistic Exchange and Prospect

On April 24, 2021, JAFIEand German Baden-Württemberg Chinese Association held the “Yangtze RiverInternational Forum · 2021 Symposium on Sino-German Humanistic Exchange and Prospect”at the conference hall of JAFIE. Teng Yong, Executive Vice Chairman of JAFIEpresided over the symposium. Lin Xiangguo, Chairman of JAFIE, Sun Congbin,Chinese Consul-General in Frankfurt, and Dr. Elmar Stumpf, Chairman of GermanBaden-Württemberg Chinese Association, addressed the symposium respectively.

Shi Mingde, Chairman ofthe China-Germany Friendship Association and the former Chinese ambassador toGermany, was invited as the host of the “Symposium on Sino-German Cultural Exchange”.Meanwhile, Prof. Zou Yajun, Standing Council Member of JAFIE and Vice Presidentof Nanjing University was invited as the host of the “Symposium on Sino-GermanEducation Exchange”.

German guests invited togive speeches in the symposium’s video connection included Herr Dr. Tilmann vonStockhausen, Executive Chairman of Freiburg City Museums Alliance and Directorof Augustin Museum, Claudia Kaiser, Vice Chairman of Frankfurt Book Fair, SinologistFrau Karin Betz, Lecturer of the University of G?ttingen, Herr Dr. Klaus Birk,Director of the Project Department of Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst(DAAD, “Germany Academic Exchange Center” in English), and Frau Prof. Dr. DanielaKleinschmi, Vice-Chancellor for Foreign Affairs of the University of Freiburg,Herr Prof. Dr. Helwig Schmidt-Glintzer, Director of University of TübingenChina Center, and Herr Prof. Dr. Thomas Hirth, Vice President of KarlsruheInstitute of Technology etc.

Chinese guests invitedto give speeches in the symposium included Gong Liang, Dean of Nanjing Museumand Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Bi Feiyu, Chairman ofJiangsu Writers Association, Xu Hai, Editor-in-Chief and Deputy General Managerof Phoenix Publishing & Media Group, Xi Zhanwen, Vice Secretary of CPCNanjing University of Science and Technology Committee, and Zi Hong, DeputyDirector of International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Soochow University.

Bernhard Weber, StandingVice Chairman of German Baden-Württemberg Chinese Association, ChiefRepresentative of Baden-Württemberg in China, and Chairman of the Board ofNanjing Branch of EU Chamber of Commerce in China, Si Jinquan, Vice Chairman ofJAFIE, Shi Xiaoqing, Standing Council Member of JAFIE and Deputy Director ofthe Foreign Affairs Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress, ZhaoZhengchi, Standing Council Member of JAFIE and Member of the Foreign AffairsCommittee of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress, personnel in charge of relatedprovincial and municipal departments, partial members of JAFIE and representativesfrom the culture, education, publishing and business communities, more than 60people in total, attended the event. Statistics from the backstage technicalterminal indicated that over 5200 people from China and Germany participated inthe event online.

During the symposium, bothChinese and German speakers also interacted with on-site and onlineparticipants, and answered questions related to the theme of the symposium.
