The board meeting of JAFIE was convened in Nanjing on March 26th.

Vice Presidents of JAFIE including Si Jinquan, Yang Yong, and Shao Weiming, along with Jiang Jinbing, Director of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress, and other relevant provincial and municipal leaders attended the meeting. Over 100 people, including the Executive Directors, Directors, and Overseas Directors of JAFIE, were present at the meeting.

In his report,Chairman Lin reviewed the main activities carried out byJAFIE in 2023: 1.Deepeningexchange andcooperation,expandingchannels forinternationalfriendship, andinitiating anewchapterfor internationallyfriendlyexchanges. 1) JAFIE has actively organized seminars, lectures, salons, etc. to promote internationally friendly exchanges and cooperation. Notable events including the lecture on “The TaiwanQuestion and Sino-US Relations” and the Sino-US Youth Salon have beensuccessfully held to boost folk exchanges and cooperation between China and the United States. 2) JAFIE has strengthened external contactsto make new friends, vigorously advancing internationally friendly exchanges.JAFIE has alwaysbeenadvocating and practicing the concept of “strengthening external contacts and making friends”, deepening friendships with old friends, and making new ones through enhanced contacts and outreach. The association has welcomed hundreds of foreign dignitaries, parliamentarians, officials, scholars, and well-known figures from business and industry. 3)JAFIE has activelyestablished bridges for friendly exchanges and cooperation andassisted member companies in carrying out international cooperation. The association hasbeenconsistently serving its members by facilitating cooperation and helping them integrate with international practices, thus promoting exchanges and cooperation in fieldsof economy, trade, science, technology, and culture, etc. 4) JAFIE has strengthened exchanges and cooperation with relevant domestic organizations to jointly promote internationallyfriendly interactions. 5) JAFIE has enhanced connections with foreign institutions in China to seek cooperative development.2.Strengthening brand construction, improving the quality of platform services, and continuing toplay the unique role of the “Yangtze River International Forum” as a think tank. In October 2023, JAFIE and the Global Forum of Chinese Political Scientists jointly organized the “Yangtze River International Forum-2023 Seminar on ‘Sino-US Relations and East Asian Security Environment’”. More than 90 people, includingExecutive Directors, Directors, and Overseas Directors of JAFIE, experts, scholars, representatives of entrepreneurs fromJiangsu and other provinces, and elites from all industries, participated in this event.

3. Improving various systems, optimizing the service system, and comprehensively enhancing work capabilities and service levels. Guided by the principles of “unity, pragmatism, innovation, and development”, JAFIE has strengthened party-buildingat the branch level, actively expanded the team of directors, improved work management systems, upgraded service support capabilities, and vigorously promoted internationally friendly exchanges and cooperation in Jiangsu Province.

The report also outlined the new annual work strategies and tasks for JAFIE. 1. Expanding international exchanges and deepening international cooperation.1) JAFIE willactively collaborate with theForeign Affairs Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress to enhance internationally friendly exchanges. 2) JAFIE aims tobe active in planning and organizing various exchange activities to promote Jiangsu’s cooperation in multiple fields 3) JAFIEintends to leverage the advantages of its overseas association and other member companies to expand the scope of internationally friendly exchanges. 4) JAFIE will keep strengthening ties with foreign institutions in China and seeking collaborative development. 5) JAFIE intends to enhance exchanges and cooperation with domestic organizations involved in foreign affairs to jointly promote the development of internationally friendly exchange causes.

2. Strengthening brand advantages and expanding the influence of the forum. JAFFE will continue to strengthen the construction of think tanks, provide precise services, seize hot topics,challenging problems, and sensitive issues in both international anddomestic politics and economy, select topics with strategic, forward-looking, and high social attention, and organize and carry out the Yangtze River International Forum activities.

3. Widely establishing friendships and promoting international cooperation. In the new year, JAFIE will further strengthen close ties with theForeign Affairs Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress. The association will not only strengthen ties with old friends and consolidate friendships but also strive to establish new friendships through various channels to expand the international friend circle. By combining official diplomacy with people-to-people diplomacy, JAFIE aims to allow more foreign friends to understand China and Jiangsu.

4. Emphasizing service awareness and building a members’ home. JAFIE will further strengthen the awareness and initiative of serving its members, and timely achieve information symmetry, resource sharing, and common development.

5. Enhancing organizational construction and facilitating service levels. 1) JAFIE will strengthen thedevelopment of the association and complete the association’s electionas scheduled. 2) JAFIE will actively promote the construction and development of its branches. 3) JAFIE plans to establish the “JAFIE Friendly Exchange Base”. 4) JAFIE will optimize the organizational structure to improve service quality.

The board meeting deliberated and approved the2023 Annual Work Report of JAFIE. Subsequently, in the session of personnel appointment andremoval, the board meeting approved the proposal of Comrade Yuan Dahai’s resignation as the General Executive Secretary of JAFIE and the appointment of Comrade Wang Jian as the new General Executive Secretary. In addition, Prof. Wang Fan,President of the China Foreign Affairs University,was also invitedto give a lecture on the international situation and China's diplomacy.
