Shao Weiming Attends the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the Amity Foundation

On November 18, the40thanniversary celebration of the Amity Foundation—designated asan “International Friendship and Exchange Base” of JAFIE—wasgrandly held in Nanjing. More than 300 guests from China and abroad gatheredfor the occasion, including Hong Huimin, Vice Chairman of the JiangsuProvincial Committee of the CPPCC; Zhao Long, former Deputy Director-General ofthe Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress; HeinrichBedford-Strohm, Chairman of the Central Committee of the World Council ofChurches; and Xu Xiaohong, Chairman of the National Committee of Three-SelfPatriotic Movement of the Protestant Churches in China. Shao Weiming, ExecutiveVice President of JAFIE, attended the event at the invitation and joinedparticipants from various sectors in witnessing this important occasion.

Since its establishment, the Amity Foundation has devoted forty years tothe field of public welfare. Over the years, it has raised a total of RMB 6billion in charitable funds and has made significant contributions in areassuch as education support, poverty alleviation, disaster management,international exchanges, and international cooperation. Its public welfareprograms have reached more than 30 countries and regions, benefiting over 200million people and bringing hope and warmth to countless individuals in need,making the foundation a leading example in the charitable sector.

JAFIE has long supported the Amity Foundation inplaying a greater role on the international stage and in fully leveraging itsfunction as an “International Friendship and Exchange Base,” working togetherto expand international exchange channels and cooperation opportunities forJiangsu. From November 14 to 15, as part of the series of events celebratingthe Amity Foundation’s 40thanniversary, the 6th“AmityCup” International Table Tennis Charity Tournament was held at the NanjingOlympic Sports Center Gymnasium. A total of 760 athletes from 129 teamsrepresenting 23 countries participated in the event. As a guiding organization,the Association actively supported the tournament. Executive Vice PresidentShao Weiming attended the opening ceremony and presented certificates to thepublic welfare sponsors.

Through the innovativemodel of “public welfare + sports”, the Amity Foundation has demonstrated itsoriginal commitment to “serving society and promoting peace.” Using tabletennis as a bridge, it has further promoted people-to-people friendship andexchanges between China and other countries, injecting a warm and positiveforce into the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. JAFIEwill continue to work hand in hand with the Amity Foundation to write a newchapter in public welfare and make new contributions to internationalexchanges.
